American Airlines

Screw the Stats

As a follow-up to something I posted a week ago, here’s a comment over at The Good Men Project about American Airlines’ new policy allowing men to be moved out of a seat next to an unaccompanied minor:

”The moment we accept one policy justifying discrimination on the basis of gender is the moment we accept all policies justifying discrimination on the basis of gender.”

Hard to argue with that.

In accordance with airline and FAA policy, although it seems airlines are able to offer “reasonable accomodation” to people with disabilities.

I’m not aware of any actual research suggesting that non-cell-phone electronic devices pose any threat to airline safety. It’s time for the FAA to end this policy.
