The Bible or Inerrancy

There are Christians who claim to be committed to inerrancy and the literal truth of the Bible, but the two inevitably conflict, and when they do, it is the latter that is sacrificed at the altar of the former.

The example given doesn’t exactly work because two conflicting versions of Jesus’ genealogy can’t possibly both be “literally true”. Maybe the Bible doesn’t need to be “literally true”, though; maybe it just needs to be True.
